That’s right, folks. It is on starting December 1st so get ready!
The challenge is basically the same for those of you that participated last year; the only exception is that there is no registration this year. Since I want to make it easy for anyone to participate whether they join the challenge in December or February, I figured it was simpler to go without the registration. Everyone who participates will just need to send me their mileage information either via email or the submission form on the official Winter 100 Challenge page.
For those of you that are new to the challenge, the idea is to run (or walk) 100 miles in the months of December, January and February combined. The incentive is that all who participate are entered to win some awesome prizes. However, the prizes are just some extra motivation, the real purpose is to stay healthy and motivated throughout the time of year when it’s easy to slack off. Between the cold weather and the holidays, fitness can fall by the wayside.
This challenge really will be a challenge for me personally this year. Last year, I was training for the Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Marathon so my miles added up quickly – I even hit 100 miles by the end of December. Between my injury that has sidelined me from running and the fact that my due date is fast approaching (January 6!), it’s going to take a while for me to rack up 100 walking miles. The silver lining is that I might be able to throw in some running miles by the end of February!
Check out the official Winter 100 Challenge page for all the details on the amazing prizes you can win, plus the important stuff like rules and requirements.
The 2012/2013 edition of the Winter 100 Challenge challenge begins on December 1st…are you in?
Happy running!

Awesome!
Cool! I’m in! (I could use some extra motivation….)
Wahoo!
Looking forward to this! Do we just upload one spreadsheet once we log 100 miles?
Yup! Just one spreadsheet once you reach 100 miles is perfect.
OHHH, I’m in!!
Yay!
Great idea! I’ll help spread the word!
Everyone needs a little extra push at that time of the year. Off to share and spread the word!
I’m in!
I’m in as well. Have a half in early December and am likely training for a spring marathon (going to decide depending on the half experience) so it shouldn’t be too tough.
Thanks for organizing. BTW — I run/walk so my blog is http://runwalkrunwalkrunwalk.blogspot.com/.
I’m in!! I’m in need of extra motivation for sure!!
I am so excited to do this! Yay! While I have kept up running after the marathon its not really where I want it to be, this will surely help!
I need all the help I can get to stay motivated over the winter, thank you!
I am in! Sounds fun!
